Human psyche

Human Psyche-

Deep within the realm of your subconscious is the centrifuge, or cerebral core of all Human possibilities. Therein, lies the key to the supernatural, heightened spirituality and the unique potential of overcoming obstacles, large and small. Human psyche is one of life's most bizarre and unparalleled traits within the physical being. It enables our extrasensory perception, encourages drive and motivation, feeds our emotional balance and at times, permits us to undertake feats that our conscious being would never allow.

I'm having another catharsis

"Beyond the Grey Sky" by 311

This is one of my favorite songs because just like most songs that Incubus sings, 311 has a unique taste of lyrics and depth. The lyrics to this song motivate the listener see beyond the negative things in life and look at the positive.

I'm having a catharsis

"Warmth" by Incubus

Don't let that world bring you down,

Not everyone here is that f***ed up and cold,

Remember why you came and while your alive,

Experience the warmth before you grow old.

During highschool I was struggling with alot of emotional issues at home. Ever since my father had passed away, our family was not very functional as a whole. There was alot of fighting and negative energy in the house. Even though I have a better relationship with my mother now, at the time it was not the case. Incubus is one of my favorite bands of all time. I love this song and the lyrics because it gives me some sort of hope in this world that everything in the end will be okay.

My right brain, my left brain

Left Brain:Sequential Analysis: systematic, logical interpretation of information. Interpretation and production of symbolic information:language, mathematics, abstraction and reasoning. Memory stored in a language format.

Right Brain:Holistic Functioning: processing multi-sensory input simultaneously to provide "holistic" picture of one's environment. Visual spatial skills. Holistic functions such as dancing and gymnastics are coordinated by the right hemisphere. Memory is stored in auditory, visual and spatial modalities.

Both parts of the brain work together as a whole. Without one side of the brain functioning, the brain cannot process information efficiently.

"One love" - free post

I decided to do my free post on something that I truely cherish in this world, my boyfriend Josh. He is probably one of the most caring, kind, friendly, and generous people I have ever met. We share alot of things in common but one thing I love about our connection is that we like the same types of music. Music is a very influential aspect of my life and can change my mood very quickly, for the better or worse.

Poetry slam

This is a poem or should I say a description that I wrote for my friend's psychology class. It does not rhyme, however it is a unique piece of art that I believe is one of the best things I have ever written...

You're so susceptible to fall in to that mood, vibe, pure utter emotion of nothing else described as happiness that she so often carries. You know that when she's there, things will be alright, like they're meant to be. Saying that she's carefree would be a misconception of her poise. It's more that she's aware of her surroundings and everything that is, and she's content, because everyone knows that life is too short. Quiet at first, she seems timid and shy, but once you get to know her true personality, you almost fall inlove with her crazy, outgoing, and smiling character. Being around her makes you laugh like you've never laughed. I can't imagine my life without her because she's like my other half. If I had to describe her in one word, I couldn't, because she's so many things merging together. And yes, I am talking about Millie Parekh....who else?

My photographic eye

My theme for this blog is centered around roses. The reason I chose this theme is because roses are my favorite flower and each color of rose represents a different emotion. (yellow roses are meant for friendship, red roses are meant for love....etc.)

The art of this culture

The artwork of this culture consists of the style of older cultures of art mixed in with modern types of art. Much of the newer art today looks similar to paintings by Van Gogh and other famous old artists. The cool thing about our generations art is that there is no limit to what is considered beautiful. Our society has so many diverse tastes and styles that anyone can be considered a genius. I thought this piece of art work by Ronald Warunek was gorgeous.

I love this piece of architecture

I love this piece of architecture mostly because I believe this work of art is a symbol of love. The monument was built in Agra, India, for Mumtaz Mahal, the favorite wife of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. It is one of the most beautiful and beloved structures in the world and is also considered one of the seven wonders of the world.

My favorite artist

One of my favorite artists of all time is Vincent van Gogh. Alot of his artwork has strong flowing coloring and looks almost fairy tale like. My favorite piece by Van Gogh is "Starry Night." I think the strongest works of art are the ones that give you a certain emotion when looking at it. When I look at "Starry Night" it gives me a sense of peace and serenity.

Fashion is art

I think fashion is a huge part of a person's image and what they stand for. Through fashion, a person can express their emotions, viewpoints, and current mood. Alot can be learned about a person just by looking at their clothing. However, fashion is not just clothing. Fashion consists of a specific style of makeup, hair, piercings, shoes, and more.

This music video is a true work of art

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMcbQySdoj4

This music video is by Alice in Chains and is named "Rooster." In the music video and lyrics, these artists sing about the Vietnam War and the soldiers and innocent people that died during this time. It is a video that has alot of depth and emotion and I think it explains the psychological and emotional struggle of being a soldier during a war.

Dance

Ever since I was young, I have wanted to learn how to swing dance. Swing was popular during the 1940's and 50's. It consists of abrupt movement and fast pace music. The popularity of jazz, and the way of playing it in the swing music style, waned after WWII. However big bands like those of Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, Count Basie and others upheld the tradition into the 1970s and beyond.

This is another person composing a work of art on a slide with sand on top. He uses different shapes and hand movements to complete his artwork of a girl with long flowing hair.

Art on you tube I

This is a video of a person using a backround light behind a slide that is transparent. There is sand sprinkled all over the slide and the artist is using his fingers to create imprints in the sand.

Art and human behavior

Just like it is told in history novels, war is a creation of man. Since the beginning of time, humans have found it necessary to fight against eachother in order to gain their prize, weather it be freedom, land, resources, or money. This is a prime example of human behavior.

Art and human nature

This picture is a good example of human nature. Every human has wants and desires and longs for affection. Without affection, attention, and love, a human is incomplete. This picture shows a man dancing with his significant other. They are enjoying eachother's company, as you can see in their facial expressions.

Art and the human condition

Human condition deals with different people that go through different emotional phases. One of the most beautiful things about being a human is being able to express yourself in any state of mind, without even speaking. Weather it be that you shed some tears, crack a smile, or grit your teeth in anger, each human can explain what they are feeling simply through facial expression. This work of art displays the different emotions each human goes through and all of the in between.

Art and the human struggle

This work of art displays a prime example of the human struggle that people must go through during hard times in the economy. This woman has her two children with her on the street and is attempting the sell some flowers for a little extra money. Just like the economic recession we are dealing with today, these people know what it means to "struggle" to make ends meet.

Meet this artist I know- Laura Leigh

One of my good friends here at West Georgia is majoring in art. I have seen many of the works of art she has composed and I have to say she is a genius. She first started out majoring in graphic design but later changed her major to sculpture. She uses much detail and shading in her art work and takes pride in every single piece she completes. Most of her artwork is abstract similar to Picasso's work. I think she has a unique essence about her artwork and I believe that someday her work will influence the artists of newer generations to come.

Why I believe this film is a work of art- "Butterfly Effect"

The film Butterfly Effect is based on a psychological phenomenon that deals with issues of cause and effect. The theory states that the single movement of a butterfly's wings can eventually lead to a natural disaster such as a tornado or tsunami just by the cause and effect of events throughout time. I believe it is an unique work of art and displays a prime example of the significance of each and every action you take. This movie challenges the mind and the soul and makes you think from a different perspective, explaining that in life, you can't just act upon impulse....you must think before you act.

My Diorama

My diorama displays the issue of racism in this world today. Even though our nation has based its laws on equality and fairness, oppression, racism, and ignorance still lingers in the minds of our nation today. Because I feel like this is a serious issue, I decided to center my diorama around this topic. The army men that I have placed in the center of my diorama represent different races. Each group of men are different colors and are faced towards each other with their guns drawn.
